There are lots of recommendations for you because My Tho is an ideal travel destination where you can find plenty of eye-catching fresh fruits and incredible specialties. Perhaps, some dishes below will strongly impress you.

My Tho Noodle Soup (Hu Tieu My Tho)

Derived from a conventional Chinese noodle soup, Hu Tieu My Tho (or My Tho noodle soup) has undergone many changes to be able to suit the appetite of My Tho people. Due to this changing process, the dish now has become an outstanding culinary delight in Vietnamese cuisine. Looking at the bowl of My Tho soup, you certainly realize some familiar ingredients, such as dried shrimp, sliced barbecue pork, herbs, bean sprouts, meat and some vegetables. Then, ever wonder if there is anything special in this dish? It is true that the most stunning feature making it famous in the north and south of Vietnam is exactly broth. Maybe, how to make the sweet and surprising fragrant broth is the special recipe belonging to My Tho people. The dish is often enjoyed with lemon, soya sauce, and chili. It is truly what to eat in My Tho for a Mekong Delta tour.

Tamarind Broth with Rice Noodle (Bun Goi Ga or Bun Goi Da)

It’s probably said that the specialty you should not ignore in your Mekong Delta tour is Bun Goi Ga (Tamarind Broth with Rice Noodle). Even with Vietnamese, the dish’s name is quite strange; they just know that it is primarily a bowl of rice noodle with tamarind broth and some add-ons. The key components of the dish are fish sauce and tamarind water, which creates the perfect yet nutty flavor anyone can’t resist. It’s exactly the sourness, sweetness, and unique saltiness harmoniously combined in the recipe. Along with the perfect stock and tender noddle, the other ingredients like seafood, herbs, and meat also contributes to the success of the enthralling dish.

Fried Prawn Cake (Cake Cong or Banh Cong)

Ever wonder what to eat in My Tho, Cong Cake will be the best choice for you

Fried Prawn Cake should be included in what to eat in My Tho when you join a Mekong Delta tour. The dish originally originates from Soc Trang province, and then has spread out on many different areas of Mekong Delta. This crunchy fried shrimp cake is savored with assorted fresh herbs, lettuce, sweet and sour fish sauce and supposed to be ideal for rainy days. Nothing is better than sitting in a foot stall and enjoying a plate of some fried prawn cakes soaked in fish sauce while it is raining outside. An alternative in how to eat the dish is to combine it with Vietnamese Steamed Rice Pancake Rolls. How fantastic!

Star Apples in Lo Ren

Star apples in Lo Ren, Vinh Kim are an interesting specialty, a kind of fruit indispensable in your list of what to eat in My Tho when you experience a Mekong Delta tour. Due to its perfect sweetness and wonderful flavor, it has been enjoyed by not only locals but also many people of Vietnam and in the world. Often, to savor a fresh star apple, we have two ways; the first one is to cut it into two parts and use a spoon to take the core out, and another is to peel it and use the core to make the smoothie. Enjoy it and get a sense of its phenomenal flavor at the top of your tongue.

Vietnam would scrap the Covid-19 testing requirement for all arrivals starting Sunday, May 15th 2022, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed.

In a document issued Friday, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to closely follow the coronavirus situation and provide proper guidance. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should direct Vietnamese authorities outside the country to inform people who wish to enter Vietnam to follow appropriate disease prevention measures, he said.

The latest decision has been made as the number of Covid-19 infections and deaths drops both in Vietnam and around the world. Several countries have been taking steps to relax coronavirus restrictions, including scrapping testing before entry.

Current policies issued by the health ministry require entrants to have negative results from PCR tests done within the previous 72 hours, or a negative result from a rapid test done within the last 24 hours.

Those who don’t have a negative test result must refrain from making contact with others during the first 24 hours after entry. They will be able to move freely once they test negative after arrival.

Children under two don’t need to be tested.

Vietnam stopped requiring medical declarations from those arriving from abroad starting April 27, and for domestic travel starting April 30.
